Brittny Baxter

Brittny Baxter is the Training and Movement Building Coordinator for the Democracy Initiative, a DC-based non-profit that centers civil rights, green and issue-based groups, good government organizations and policy groups on proactive democracy reform.

With a background in electoral and issues organizing across the country, Brittny was most recently active in the 2018 midterms in Georgia and Florida Prior to the 2018 midterm elections, she managed a Maryland based statewide program in partnership with Re: Power (formerly Wellstone Action), providing training for progressive Democrats, campaign managers and grassroots organizers to run and win effective campaigns. She is also a trainer for the National Democratic Training Committee.

Brittny is from the of Buffalo NY, where she cut her teeth on local and state legislative races. The former Upstate Legislative Organizer for New York Working Families, she organized to deepen and mobilize the NY Renews coalition, in support of climate justice reform. She has worked on various issue campaigns, from environmental justice and safe staffing to the Fight for $15 and reproductive justice issues.

A strong supporter of labor and a former AFT organizer for NYSUT, she is committed to the fight for equity for all. “I stand with the poor, people of color, LGBTQ folks, immigrants and organized labor, because our liberation is bound together.”
