Organizing 2.0
Co-Founder
Brooklyn
For almost 15 years Elana has taught digital strategy in the labor movement. Seeing the need for a digital skills training conference for labor unions and community organizations Elana co-founded Organizing 2.0 a decade ago. She now serves as Program Director for New Media Mentors, the training partner of the Netroots Nation conference, helping progressive organizations everywhere improve their digital strategy.

Elana Levin has worked as Digital Director for the immigrant rights organization Make the Road Action, Communications Director for the Writers Guild East, and has run the digital programming for several unions. She was the first staffer entirely dedicated to digital communications for UNITE HERE, serving as Assistant Director of Communications, New Media.

Elana’s lifelong involvement in pop culture fan communities and the opportunities presented by the Black Panther movie led her to form FanActivistCon, where organizers connect social justice-minded fans of the movie to grassroots organizations working for racial justice. She leads trainings in fan activism and in organizing pop culture communities nationwide and podcasts about the intersection of nerd culture and politics at Graphic Policy Radio.
